FAQs
HOW LONG IS MY APPOINTMENT AND WHAT TO EXPECT?
You will complete a health and lifestyle questionnaire including what you hope to achieve from your treatments. During your consultation we will devise a tailored treatment plan for you. All information will be confidential and recorded under the Data Protection Act.
After removing your socks and shoes, using a relaxing zero gravity chair you will be made comfortable with blankets and pillows. Lighting and music will create a calming ambience and your feet will be cleansed. Your treatment will combine relaxing massage and pressure applied to the reflexes of your feet and lower legs. Clients can chat and relax or switch off. It is your treatment and you can choose. After the treatment you will be offered water and we will chat about the treatment and discuss any sensitive or congested areas and I will advise on aftercare.
First appointments include a consultation - please allow 80 minutes. Subsequent appointments are 60 minutes with 55 minutes of reflexology.
HOW WILL I FEEL AFTER MY TREATMENT
Relaxed, calm and energised with an increased sense of well-being. Your sleep should be deeper and more restful. You may have a healing reaction and may feel teary, lethargic or tired for up to 48 hours. These are normal reactions and are part of the healing process, please support yourself by drinking plenty of water and resting.
HOW SOON WILL I NOTICE AN IMPROVEMENT?
The effects of reflexology are cumulative and I recommend 4-6 weekly treatments to kick start healing and improve your health and wellbeing. . The longer you have had health issues the longer they take to heal and the closer together the treatments, the quicker the results.
HOW MANY TREATMENTS WILL I NEED?
Reflexology has cumulative benefits, so I usually recommend an initial course of 4 to 6 weekly sessions. Many clients then move to fortnightly or monthly treatments to maintain balance and support ongoing wellbeing. We’ll work together to find a rhythm that feels right for you.
DORS IT HURT OR TICKLE?
Not at all. Reflexology should feel soothing, not uncomfortable. You might notice slight sensitivity in areas where your body needs attention, but this is usually brief. Most clients find the treatment deeply relaxing — many even drift off to sleep.
WHAT SHOULD I WEAR TO A TREATMENT?
Please wear loose, comfortable clothing. Trousers that can be easily rolled up to the knee are ideal. To ensure your comfort, I recommend avoiding tights or tight-fitting garments on the lower legs.
AFTERCARE
After your treatment ideally you should relax for the rest of the day. Keep yourself hydrated with plenty of water and herbal teas and avoid stimulants.
HOW TO PAY
Bank transfer is preferred
New clients, please pay a deposit of 50% of the cost of treatment by bank transfer prior to the appointment
ARE THERE TIMES WHEN REFLEXOLOGY ISN’T SUITABLE?
While reflexology is safe for most people, there are a few cases where treatment may need to be postponed or adapted, such as:
Acute or undiagnosed pain
Cellulitis or severe skin infections
Contagious or notifiable illnesses
Deep vein thrombosis (DVT)
Active substance use
Gangrene or open wounds
Awaiting test results or pending medical investigations
If you’re unsure, please don’t hesitate to get in touch — I’m happy to discuss your individual situation.
Please note: Reflexologists do not diagnose or offer medical treatment. Reflexology is a complementary therapy that works alongside, not in place of, conventional healthcare.
DISCLAIMER
